Mr. Hatch is a founding principal in ManagedCare.com. An experienced managed care
professional, Mr. Hatch has assisted numerous clients on issues such as network
development, risk contracting, and strategic planning. For nearly 7 years (through
2006), he served in an executive capacity (as the quarter-time Executive Director)
of the Mesa County Physicians IPA, a 60,000-member, at-risk (globally) IPA in western
Colorado.
Until the formation of ManagedCare.com, Mr. Hatch served as Director of Group Practice
and Network Development for Physician Venture Management, a joint venture of UniHealth
and Columbia Healthcare. In this capacity, he worked extensively in the design and
development of MSO esp. managed care administration - MIS, UM, QA, etc.) infrastructure
for several integrated delivery networks.
Prior to affiliating with Physician Venture Management, Mr. Hatch was a senior Consulting
Manager with BDC Advisors in San Francisco, CA. Focused exclusively in the healthcare
sector, this position involved advising clients on issues relating to the development
of provider-lead contracting organizations. Mr. Hatch participated in a wide variety
of initiatives across the country, which included the coordination of activities
relating to:
- Strategic Planning and Network Design
- Communication with Physician/Medical Staff Leadership on Key Development Issues
- Managed Care Contracting Strategy
- Organizational Formation (Groups, IPA's, MSO's, Foundations)
- Financial Modeling and Identification of Capital Requirements
He has spearheaded complete IDN formation projects at OneSource of South Florida
(Miami, FL), Partners Healthcare System (Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women’s
Hospitals), AMI (Los Angeles, Houston, and Birmingham), East Bay Medical Network
(Oakland, CA), among others.
Mr. Hatch also spent 4 years at Arthur Andersen & Co. in San Francisco as a
Senior Manager in the Valuation Consulting Group, where his principle focus was
in the valuation of closely held businesses, non-public securities and intangible
assets in a broad array of industries.
Mr. Hatch holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from San Diego State
University, a Bachelor of Science degree from Bates College, and a CFA designation
from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts. He is a frequent speaker on
issues related to managed care and network formation, served on the Advisory Panel
of the Healthcare Advisory Board/Governance Institute in Washington D.C., and recently
appeared as a guest speaker on a Viacom Cable television presentation of "Financial
Prophets", discussing issues relating to National Health Care Policy.
